Sofía Jaramillo is a Colombian-American photographer, director, and National Geographic Explorer whose work blends photojournalism, fine art, and commercial storytelling. Based in the Mountain West and working internationally, she creates images rooted in connection—whether documenting communities for The New York Times and National Geographic, partnering with outdoor and travel brands, or developing conceptual fine-art projects.
Her acclaimed project A New Winter reimagines the visual history of ski culture in the United States, having debuted at the Sun Valley Museum of Art and with an upcoming exhibition at the Boise Art Museum. She was recently awarded a National Geographic Explorers grant and is currently leading a long-term photographic study of the páramo ecosystems of the Colombian Andes.
